Day 10 - Blog is Up / Progress to Be Made

So as many of you said... My first 101 in 1001 List was a little (read: alot) to Ambitious. (Thank You Bea) So I am doing it again! I am adding some more achievable goals, but also goals that will better my life, my mental, financial and physical health, as well as, Jens life and our new lives as a married couple.

My last time around I only accomplished 32 goals. This time I have every intention of finishing the list and really getting myself to a better place in life and hopefully towards a more happy and complete person.

A friend on mine recently told me of a research study in which the participants of a list such as this, or anyone setting goals can become complacent in accomplishing tasks when they are vocalized. The vocalization or sharing of the task eases your mind into thinking that you are already there or on your way to the task when you really have not setup the steps to achieve the goal...

My plea to you is to make sure that you nudge me, encourage me, and even coerce me into completing tasks if you can. If you would like to do any of them with me you are more than welcome and if you have something to share you can post a message on the blog...
I will be updating it regularly and sharing updates on Facebook and Twitter. I hope that they will not be a nuance.

Thank you for taking a look!!!

Day 647 - Block Island

About 4 weeks ago Jordan, Tegan, Jen and I went to Block Island. I think it was July 20th. It started out pretty awesomely as I forgot my phone in the car, but it was actually kinda liberating not being connected to anyone and just being able to chill out. We rented scooters, obviously, and basically saw all the island has to offer. The bluffs in the North are unbelievable and the lighthouses are really amazing. We tried the beer at the only brewery on the island and I must confess that they are not very good.
We hide a cache on the island, even though we have yet to list it. Ill work on that this weekend and get my cache updates, well updated.
I took down the number of a building that was for rent (actually Jordan remembered it, psycho) where we could sell Turbo Burgers, but I'm assuming its astronomical. I guess I will call if I can find the number, just to see the price...

Day 646 - I Suck

So it has been 176 days since my last point. That is just awful. Time is really creeping up on me. I have accomplished a couple of things in that time period, however, and even though money and time are going to hinder my total completion of the list (at least within the given parameters of 1001 days) I would like to finish all that I can and work on the rest at a later date.

#27 - Take a Vodka Taste Test
Over the last couple of months I have had the opportunity to learn a great deal about the restaurant business that I so dearly wanted to be involved in for as long as I can remember. And while I do not have the time or the knowledge yet to open and serve the fabled Turbo Burgers that I have so meticulously "perfected" I am working on it....

Anyway, I digress... One of the bartenders at Chips, Phyllis (sorry about spelling) agreed to test my knowledge about Vodkas and give me a "Taste Test" of several different varieties of vodka over a month or so period. After work I would get a drink and she would randomly use a vodka and then she would ask my opinion about it and I would try to differentiate and answer these three questions : 1.) Where is was made? 2. What is it distilled from? (#1 and #2 are almost always the same pairing) and 3.) Did I like it....

I was very happy that I knew a good deal about what I was consuming and for the most part my taste buds agreed with what I thought that I might prefer. I tend to like vodkas from Poland and Sweden over Russian and European varieties. I also like potato distilled vodkas over the wheat ones.

Exceptions and findings:

Ketel One I thought that was both the best tasting of all of them and a very low hangover.
Grey Goose when taken as a shot was impure, and the most rubbing-alcohol like of the bunch.
Sky Vodka, which I didn't think I would care for, placed high.
I did not like Belvedere, Zyr, Trump, Kroc and other "Premium" vodkas as much as I thought that I would. As I always favored a "thicker" or potato distilled vodka.

If anyone would like to try this again with me I would love to give it another shot but it will have to be in at least a month as I am starting P90x on Monday and pairing it with a 30 day Alcohol-Free purge..

More updates to follow... I will probably do a post for the next couple of days as I have more updates to share... Thanks for looking and I hope to get in a good rhythm here and start crossing off some items...

As Always....

Day 470 - Steamed Wontons

Jen and I went over to see Motts and Rachel at Rachels New Apartment in Clinton. We brought some wine and some absolutely delicious Wontons. We decided to make two types: I made Buffalo Chicken ones and Jen made Tofu and Vegetable. All you do is make the mixtures and then get them in the wonton shells. Seal the corners with water and then we steamed them. Add Soy Sauce and Blue Cheese Dipping Sauces with some ChopSticks and you`re good to go!!

They were great! And I am willing to admit that Jens were better than mine. The Tofu and Veggies ones with some soy sauce were really amazing.

Day 469 - Chicken Parmigiana

Ok here we go... I have been really stresses about my list lately and finally realizing how truely "Ambitious" that it is (Thanks Bea). Unfortunetly another item has gone by that is not going to happen. 33.) Go to The Olympics. Unless I win the lottery next week and the CT Lottery people pay me in cash on the spot, this one is going to go by without a check mark... I still have alot of places to travel and alot of things to experience. Ill do my best but this list is looking more and more demanding by the day...

On a litter note, I was in the kitchen again this morning as I am dieting along with the P90x workouts but have found that I am very bored with the food. There is only so much roughage I can eat. So I decided before I fell off the wagon I would "reward" myself with some cheesy baked Chicken Parmigiana. Its Low Sodium, Low Fat and hopefully delicious! As always Recipies Available Upon Request!!! Its Super Easy..
